Shield
The shield is red with the charges in white (silver), representing the Engineer Corps colors. The distaff and the oak tree is a combination of the regimental insignia of the two parent organizations. The fleur-de-lis placed upon the bend symbolizes the battle honors earned in France during World War I, as indicated in the history of the organization.
Crest
Those of the States of New Jersey, Rhode Island and Florida Army National Guard in the order in which these States were admitted to the Union.
The coat of arms was originally approved for the 177th Engineer Regiment on 3 August 1942. It was amended to correct the history on 17 September 1942 and again on 2 January 1943 and 3 July 1943. It was redesignated for the 177th Engineer Construction Battalion with the history amended on 4 June 1945. The insignia was rescinded on 23 November 1976.
